Colin Kaepernick Fears His Daughter Will Face Racism Because Of Her Skin Color & Famous Last Name: ‘She Ain’t Asked For All This’

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick is opening up about the difficult conversations he expects to have with his four-year-old daughter as he prepares her to navigate r@cism.

During an October 19 appearance on “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard,” Kaepernick reflected on raising his daughter with wife Nessa Diab and the discrimination she could encounter.

“She’s going to be a little light-skinned Black girl,” he explained. “She’s going to have Kaepernick as her last name. She’s also tall.”

“Like, I know she’s going to have to face things. She ain’t asked for all this. So, I’m like, you have to be prepared. I’m going to have to prepare you earlier.”

His concerns stem from painful childhood experiences. Adopted by white parents, Kaepernick recalled being eight when neighborhood children tied him to a rose tree and shouted a racial slur.

Despite escaping, he never disclosed the incident to his parents.

“I can’t tell my parents,” he recalled thinking. “I don’t know if they’re going to have my back in this situation.”

Kaepernick acknowledged that although his parents loved him, they struggled to understand the r@cism he experienced.

His experiences later influenced his activism, including his 2016 protests against police brutality during NFL games.

Kaepernick has also accused the NFL of excluding him, stating, “I’m not gonna support an organization that, one, is actively blackballing me, but two, has targeted my brothers who have been protesting as part of this as well.”

The league has denied blackballing him.

Parents, how do you teach your children about r@cism?
