Numbers-Don’t-Lie :: Lindsay Lohan’s Playboy Spread Flying Off Shelves

Contrary to initial reports, Lindsay Lohan‘s January 2012 Playboy is flying off shelves and intriguing readers in unusual markets. According to reports, there has been a large rise in subscription sales to the online service iPlayboy.com and on newsstands. Major cities like New York and L.A. have asked for additional copies (plus smaller cities that don’t normally order additional copies have done so).

Some of the initial mumblings of disappointment came from Playmate of the Year 2010 Hope Dworaczyk, whose centerfold included a 3-D fold out of the model.  Dworaczyk said,

“I saw that spread… and I was not impressed. I just feel like if I would have known I was doing a Playboy shoot, I would have worked out more maybe.”

Hugh Hefner himself even admitted to some uncertainties as to whether he wanted Lohan as the cover anymore.  Hefner told E! News in an interview,

“I kind of had mixed emotions about it initially, and then it turned into something bigger than life. I wasn’t quite sure where she was at in her life, obviously. It depends on whether it’s Tuesday or Thursday.”

Reportedly, Lohan was paid $1 Million for the spread and Hef made sure he got his money’s worth from the model (or train wreck, whatever you prefer). If you’ve copped the issue, weigh in on whether you were impressed or not.
