[EXCLUSIVE] Tyler Perry & Oprah Privately Settle Legal Battle Accusing Them of Stealing TV Show
Parables Entertainment says Tyler Perry stole the idea and turned it into the hit OWN network show. The lawsuit demanded an injunction against the show from continuing to air and also a cut of the profits made. She also demanded a credit at the beginning of the show stating it was based on her screenplay “Affairs”.
Neither Perry or Harpo ever responded to the legal battle and it appears that’s because they were privately settling the legal action since it was filed.
On September 17th, Parables Entertainment filed docs stating that they are dismissing the entire lawsuit and all claims against Perry and Oprah. The company says they are paying for all the court fees and their legal bills, but they also say they are dismissing the case with prejudice — which means they can NEVER file a lawsuit against with the same claims. This means that they reached a settlement with Perry and Harpo over the claims they stole the idea and the terms of which will forever remain confidential.
