Donald Trump Says Jussie Smollett Case Is A “Disgrace To Our Nation”, Calls Him A Third Rate Actor

The Jussie Smollett saga has dominated the media outlets for months, even after the Empire star had the 16 felony counts against him dropped and his record cleared. One of Smollett’s biggest critics has been Donald Trump—and his latest comments are unsurprising.

Despite the actual legal side of the case being officially done, the ramifications for Jussie are far from over in terms of the public’s opinion—including the opinion of Donald Trump, who has slammed Smollett once again.

While at a recent campaign stop for his 2020 presidential bid in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Trump took the time to hurl further insults at Smollett, as he addressed the crowd in “MAGA country.” Trump reportedly told the crowd:

“It’s MAGA country. I didn’t hear that term until that third rate actor in Chicago went out and said I was beaten up by MAGA country, can you believe it? Turned out to be a total lie.”

He also added that the entire case was a “disgrace to our nation,” as he addressed his core fanbase of supporters who he anticipates will elect him to another term as POTUS.

Trump previously said of the Smollett case on social media:

“FBI & DOJ to review the outrageous Jussie Smollett case in Chicago. It is an embarrassment to our Nation!”

Elsewhere, Smollett continues to await his fate on the future of his position on Empire.

Lee Daniels

Series creator Lee Daniels is currently deciding what to do with Smollett on the show, while his cast mates have rallied around him in support by recently sending a letter to network execs and Daniels to keep him on the show.
