Lil Wayne Pulls the Plug, Forces Nicki Minaj to Pull Out of Summer Jam Concert
Sunday afternoon, popular New York City radio station, Hot 97, held its annual “Summer Jam” concert. A number of A-list hip-hop acts like, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross & Maybach Music, J. Cole, Wale, Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, Waka Flocka, Trey Songz, Maino, Big Sean, and Tyga have promised to hit the stage, but one of the biggest names on the bill, Nicki Minaj, cancelled her appearance. The show was actually underway when Nicki Minaj fans learned that she had pulled out.
So what actually happened? Apparently, radio personality Peter Rosenberg had some not-so-nice things to say about Nicki (on stage, during the show) and it looks like Young Money wasn’t a fan. Specifically, we hear that Rosenberg made a commented during their pre-show,
“We about that real hip-hop, not ‘Starships.'”
Obviously, that line was in reference to Minaj’s song. Before pulling out the show, Nicki tweeted:
History will be made @ Hot97 Summer Jam tonight. I really hope you’re there to witness it.
But after news spread that Rosenberg had taken some shots at Nicki, Lil Wayne pulled the cord and announced on twitter:
Young Money ain’t doing summer jam.
And moments later, Nicki followed twitter suit and told her fans:
Wow. U niggaz just f*cked up history. But the President has spoken.#YMCMB Had a HELL of a fucking lineup. But we won’t b disrespected..I go above and beyond for my fans. But won’t ever go against wayne’s word. What he says, goes. I’d like to thank the staff @ philly & boston summer jams for treating their guests w/respect! Had a blast.
Meanwhile, Nicki’s producer/hype-man/rumored boyfriend, Scaffbeezy, tweeted:
YOOO PETER ROSENBURG WHEN I COME TO SUMMA JAM YOU GETTING PUNCHED IN YA F*CKING FACE U F*CKING P*SSY!!!!!!! I PROMISE U N*GGA!!!!!
Ouch. Stay tuned.
