Kimora Gives Baby Fat the Dueces + Russell Simmons Responds
As of September 1, Kimora and Baby Phat will go their separate ways. Kimora released a statement on Global Grind saying, “After 14 years of conceiving and nurturing Baby Phat, it’s time for me to move on and further expand my other businesses and create a new phenomenon. I adore all those who have faithfully been with me since the beginning. I’m forever dedicated to my family, fans and customers,” Simmons said. “My inspiration has always come from the fabulous women who have been with me through the years as we’ve grown from young party girls to power players! We’re ready for our next journey together and we’re taking a whole new generation of incredible young women with us. Girl power unite!”
Last night, Kimora’s twitter followers heard the news and began tweeting her. Kimora loves her some twitter, so of course she tweeted everyone back.
Someone tweeted, “Your really leaving BABYPHAT? Who’s going to run the show now! :-(”
Kimora responded, “Hell if I know….I created it, built it, sold it long ago, worked it 4 my fabs, and now we’re OUT!!
Her ex-husband, Russell Simmons, chimed in and tweeted, “congrats Kimora on an amazing run with baby phat! Kimora and I are building new brands. Gonna be new fun…. we sold that company 7 yrs ago its over for us, I have argyle @ macys and its time for kls (urban graduates)”
Kimora’s latest tweet was, “On to the Next One…”
