Chico DeBarge Arrested Over Meth Possession For 2nd Time In Less Than 1 Year
Chico DeBarge is facing more drug-related legal issues.
According to recent reports, Chico DeBarge (real name Jonathan Arthur DeBarge) was arrested for drug possession earlier this month. Specifically, the 55-year-old singer was busted for methamphetamine.
The incident began when authorities got a call about a disturbance being caused within a motorhome back on Nov. 6th. When officers arrived on the scene, they observed that the RV in question–which belonged to Chico DeBarge–had registration tags that had been expired for about six months. The motorhome was resultingly impounded, and meth was later found inside the vehicle.
As a result, Chico DeBarge was arrested for possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was later released from custody, and it’s unclear when he will have to appear in court over the matter.
This isn’t the first time Chico has faced drug-related legal issues. Back in January, he was arrested for drug possession and false impersonation after being pulled over in Burbank, California. Chico DeBarge was also caught with meth back in 2019 and faced similar charges in 2007. It’s also worth pointing out that he served time for drug trafficking back in the late 1980s as well.
This development comes about a year-and-a-half after Chico‘s son–Dontae Anderson-DeBarge–was murdered in Los Angeles. The 35-year-old was specifically stabbed in the city’s Van Nuys neighborhood back in April 2020, and he was described as being homeless at the time of his death.
