Oprah Quotables: Talks Palin, Being a Brand & New Network, OWN

Oprah Winfrey, who is gearing up to launch her new network, Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), on January 1, is on the cover of the December 26th issue of Parade Magazine. Check a few quotables from her interview where she talks Palin, being a ‘brand,’ and reality TV.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, OWN is a joint venture between Oprah Winfrey and Discover Communications that will target adults 18-49. The network’s programming will include a mix of nonfiction, short-form programming, movies, documentaries and acquisitions.
On being a “brand”:
“I hate the word brand, but now I have succumbed to the fact that I guess I am one.”
On whether the thought of Palin running for office scares her:
“It does not scare me because I believe in the intelligence of the American public.”
On being the subject of a reality show on her network:
“All these people doing these reality shows–I don’t know why anybody wants to be followed by a television camera all the time. There was great discussion amongst my team as to how we would document this last year [of The Oprah Winfrey Show]. I said, ‘I think it should be a documentary.’
