Gabby Douglas’ Mom, Natalie Hawkins, Filed for Bankruptcy + Do We Care?

With all of the positive publicity surrounding Gabby Douglas, it should come as no surprise that the media would be interested in the positives and negatives about her family and support system. TMZ has learned that just a few months ago (before Gabby won her gold medal ) her mother, Natalie Hawkins, filed for bankruptcy.

Specifically, court documents reveal that she filed for Chapter 13. She had assets totalling $163,706.10 and debt totaling $79,754.14. Some of her creditors included: Capital One, a student loan, sprint, etc. In Natalie’s defense (not that she needs it), she had agreed to a monthly payment plan, making payments of $408/month in February. We’re sure that with Gabby’s Olympic wins and new endorsements her single mother (who happens to be a mother of four) will be able to take care of this debt swiftly. P.S. With Gabby’s new-found fame, will the public or media care about her mother’s past bankruptcy? And really, should we care at all?

I think its absolutely ridiculous the media pulls this shit up. They did the same with Ryan Lochte’s mother house going into foreclosure. Why are people so concerned with their parent’s personal affairs. It makes no sense. Once again, America is focused on the wrong shit. Just disgusting.

      I agree with Yosh 100000%

Here these athletes are, training & working their butts off to represent a country that cares more about exploiting their shortcomings than they do about praising & thanking them for bringing the gold home. Now the media has diverted attention away from the accomplishments of these hard working people to the lives of people who have not chosen a life in the public eye. What goes on in their lives is none of our business!

The Donald has filed for bankruptcy protection 4 times and is still a billionare and looked at as a successful business model. Bankruptcy is is there to protect u from complete financial ruin. She exercised her right like most saavy (rich) people do.

Leave this woman alone and let’s focus on the wonderful achievements of Gabby Douglas. Ditto to the three comments before mine.

This is beyond irrelevant. I don’t get the point of the media bringing this up?? Past financial woes don’t matter AT ALL right now. Her kid is a history-making millionaire.

I am so proud of Gabby. God bless her, the media
should leave her and their family alone.
