Kanye West Takes Personal Jab at MTV’s Sway + Says Wayne Is Number 1 Rapper

Yeah, that was cool; more than anything. I’m happy for Sean but I feel like he should be on top 5 and that way he keeps building records like the way he started off that ‘Mercy’.

Yeah number 7 bothers me! Because you know..I think that Wayne is the #1 rapper in the world…him and jay and  are the greatest rappers of all time. To me that…i feel like, for them to put me on #7 they had to bring up things that they didnt like. Like they didn’t like the ‘cruel summer’ album. And I’m like, ‘That’s a compilation–it ain’t all rappers on good music. ‘Cruel Summer’ got ‘Don’t Like’ remix, ‘Mercy’, ‘Cold’, ‘New God Flow’, all on one …you know…..Like aint nobody bring up that ‘diamonds’ remix verse…It wasn’t no verse in a year that was F*cking with that verse. It’s def. not based on a body of work but, possibly it could be like overall rap mc swag. Sean is a great rapper–it just checks all the boxes. With these type of judges as soon as when you come in…like i had the pink polo and the backpack then I’m checking all the boxes of that Tribe Called Quest era J.Dilla and all that. So they wanna champion it; they dont like raunchy Kanye, they don’t like Kanye in a kilt, they dont like Kanye in a relationship.

I don’t think they are going bar for bar. I said “lucky i aint have jay drop em from the team…”ain’t no bar of the entire past 12 months thats hotter than that bar. Thats one bar. I come from this battle rap; thats how I grew up in Chicago. I couldn’t believe it. I mean I gave Sway his first TV, man. He came over my crib in Newark, New Jersey. I was living in Newark doing beats for Jay and Beans and all them and I was getting a new TV and I gave Sway his first tv… And really i didnt really wanna like even  call to even talk about the number 7 list…i just wanted to tell everybody I gave sway his first tv…and he need to remember that.
