Samuel L. Jackson, Kym Whitley, Jasmine Guy Attend Kenny Leon’s ‘True Colors Gala’
Tony nominated broadway director Kenny Leon hosted the 10th Annual Greens In The Day, Blues In The Night Celebrity Tournament & Gala this weekend in Atlanta. The event raised funds for the theatre company’s education programs including the annual August Wilson Monologue Competition.
The fundraising weekend kicked off with a golf tournament with celebs vying for the ‘Kenny Cup’ trophy. At night guests attended an exclusive art showing, mix and mingle with celebrity guests including Kym Whitley , Samuel L. Jackson, Jasmine Guy, Alfre Woodard, and Anika Noni Rose, while listening to a blues band. Leon’s True Colors Theater has produced several plays starring Phylicia Rashad (Claire Huxtable, The Cosby Show). The 57-year-old director has worked with Sean Combs and Sanaa Lathan in A Raisin In The Sun starring and Denzel Washington and Viola Davis in Fences. Most recently, he directed Lifetime’s Steel Maganolia’s remake starring Queen Latifah.
