Big Hair, Big Gowns & Baby Bumps Take Over Met Gala: Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce & More Pretty Faces
If you live and die for fashion, then it’s one of your favorite nights to celebrity stalk. Monday evening, Hollywood’s biggest stars, A-listers and artists attended 2013 Costume Institute Gala in New York City.
Hosted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this year’s theme was “PUNK: Chaos to Couture”, with folk like Anna Wintour, Rooney Mara, Lauren Santo Domingo and Riccardo Tisci as co-chairs, big how, elegant bows and a bit of daring fashion was definitely present.
Of this year’s theme, Metropolitan Museum of Art Director and CEO Thomas P. Campbell told press,
Punk’s signature mixing of references was fueled by artistic developments such as Dada and postmodernism, so it makes sense to present this exhibition in a museum that also shows the broader output of those movements. Indeed, that dialogue between art and fashion is what makes The Costume Institute so singular.
And indeed, that it did. Check out some of our favorite and ‘interesting’ looks.
