 Friday morning, Kris Jenner’s highly anticipated interview with Kanye West aired. The 36-year-old artist, who recently had his first child (North) with girlfriend Kim Kardashian, showed a different side to his personality. As expected, he opened up about daughter and highly public relationship with Kim. Both relationships have proven to give him more clarity, after losing his mother, Donda West, over two years ago:

There were times [after her death], I would put my life at risk. I didn’t have something to live for. Now I have two very special people to live for, a whole family to live for, a whole world to live for.

Ye reflected on North’s arrival:

When my daughter was first born people asked me ‘How do you feel, is everything different?’ No not really, not everything is that different, it takes time to understand you met a brand new person. My only goal as a dad is to protect my daughter, that’s my instinct to give my daughter as many opportunities to just be a child.

He also shared that he was in love with Kim, before even meeting her:

I was in love with her before I ever even got to talk to her. I wanted to be with her so bad that I thought about picking up sports. I can have people saying that this is going to damage your credibility as an artist or a designer, and I say, ‘I don’t care, I love this woman.’ She’s my joy, and she brought my new joy into the world. There’s no paparazzi and there’s no blog comments that’s going to take that joy from me.
