Lil Mo Talks Beef With Cast Members, Money Troubles and Season Two Of R&B Divas LA
Although season one of R &B Divas LA is a wrap, breakout star Lil Mo, has continued to stay visible, doing press, dropping new music and more. The mother of four is hard at work on tour and recording new music for the upcoming year. This week, she stopped by New York radio station, Hot 97, dishing on where things stand with cast members, season two of the TV One spin-off, plus how shocked she was about Michele’s past of domestic abuse. Peep the excerpts below.
On the status of Dawn Robinson and Kelly Price, both whom she had beef with during season 1:
Who knows I don’t know what they are doing to this day and I don’t care.
Her thoughts on Kelly Price working on country music:
I don’t Google her name, I’m not trying to be funny. I know her from church stuff. Like our circle, Donnie McClurkin to everyone in church sing, Thats how I know her. She’s from NY as well, but maybe she been on the West Coast because she tried my life and I was just like you don’t do that with me.
If she felt Kelly was purposely trying to play her and if some of the cast were acting a bit ‘Hollywood’:
Yes, I really did. We shot for 9 weeks, but we did 8 episodes because we had to take a week off because people was acting like they had songs on Hot97, I said, ‘ You ain’t got no songs out’. I’m the only one with a recurring hit because I was the only one that was in radio so I saw the list and I was still putting out music so I just didn’t understand. I thought we were coming here to do a show…like ‘R&B Divas LA’ was suppose to resurface all of our careers because let’s be for real though, we were all unsung. So when we were doing the show and people was coming in with shades the inside, who does that? Bi-ch we need to see your eyes, I need to connect with your spirit.
On what other cast member she considers more talented than her:
Not more talented but interesting, Michell’e. I recently found out on the reunion that everyone thought it was Suge that was whooping her a– to get her nose job, it was Dre who was beating her. Thats where the beats by Dre came from because he beats women. He broke her nose twice.
On being a serial monogamous:
I don’t believe in having children out of wedlock. All of my children are under marriage. 2 are from the first marriage and 2 from the second. My kids are ages 11, 8, 4, and 1 and no my tubes aren’t tied.”
On how she survived, financially, away from music:
No, album sales, writing and just saving. I live a frugal life, I shop at Sam’s Club. I make good decisions and have good people around me.
On her IRS woes:
I had to come and file with the supreme court. Somebody was stealing my money and was buying houses in Florida with it and I didn’t even know i was getting money, like that’s how real it was. They knew I was honest because I didn’t come in there with no entourage. I came in there being as humble as I know how to be and I didn’t know what to write off. They told me to write off hair, clothes and everything and my cousin told me what to do so now they put me on a extended payment plan and I pay $269 a month.
On if there will be a second season:
See, I don’t know. They still have contracts but I signed on to do another season contractually. The way my contract is set up is that if they don’t get picked up, I become a free agent and trust me a lot of people are waiting.
