Haute or Hot A Mess: Nick Cannon Introduces New Blonde Cheetah Print Hair on GMA

Nick Cannon is known for making all types of bold statements–literally or figuratively. On Monday, the 33-year-old husband to singer Mariah Carey introduced a funky, new hair do of sorts. He dyed his hair blonde, brown and black, channeling his inner cheetah. He shared a photo of the new style, writing on Instagram:

His new hair was for his appearance on Good Morning America. The America’s Got Talent host talked about his upcoming album, White Peoples Party Music, along with his controversial ‘White Face‘ photo that got a few folk upset last week. He told GMA viewers:

Whiteface, if you look it up and Google it, it’s a ski slope up in upstate New York.  don’t really know what that is. Blackface is a term that was created in 1869 to describe offensive minstrel shows,” Cannon, who’s married to singer Mariah Carey, said. “I was doing a character impression. Blackface is about oppression. If you really want to have that conversation, we can have conversation.

He added,

To me, this was to have fun and to put it out there. Yes, we have issues with race in this country and this world but it doesn’t have to be about hatred.

He continued that because he is an artist he’s okay with expressing himself creatively, even if it brings a bit of controversy.

It’s really not that big of a deal….I’m an artist. I get the opportunity to create, as long as I can embrace it. Of course, everything is going to come with consequences and a little heat but if I can take the heat, let’s ride. If you listen to the album, it’s so funny.”

His new album hits stores on Tuesday.
