[GIVEAWAY] 20th Anniversary ESSENCE Festival: The Year of Empowerment Kicks Off July 3-6 in New Orleans, LA

The 2014 ESSENCE Festival celebrates 20 years of music, leadership, and more with this summer’s “Year of Empowerment” event commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Kicking off 50 years to the day of this historic legislation, the ESSENCE Festival takes place July 3-6 in New Orleans, LA, and is expanding its footprint with innovative new programs and features designed to improve the day-to-day lives of women and families.
This year, ESSENCE will triple the free empowerment offerings for attendees with bold, new community initiatives, as well as the introduction of a free workshop series, Empower U. Topics including Love & Relationships, Healthy Living, Money & Power, Beauty & Style, Education, Technology and Careers are among the deep-dive workshop tracks.
Over the past two decades, “…the Festival has become one of the most important forums for non hip-hop black music and culture,” as reported by the New York Times. This year’s milestone 4-day celebration will feature both world-renowned and up-and-coming performing acts, as well as the country’s top speakers, authors, leaders, innovators and celebrities – who will come together to entertain, excite, engage, inform and inspire the Festival community of more than 543,000.
