[INTERVIEW] Nicci Gilbert Talks R&B Divas Atlanta Reunion, Angie Stone’s Departure & Defends Faith Evans
She’s no longer a cast member, but Nicci Gilbert says she still supports one of TV One’s more popular shows. As one the creators of R&B Divas, she left after two seasons but is still quite vocal about the non-scripted show that now has a spin-off in Los Angeles.
Just days after the controversial R&B Divas Atlanta reunion, thejasmineBRAND.com correspondent, Smith chatted with the Brownstone singer at the Champions For Choice event in L.A.
Does she feel Wendy Williams overstepped her boundaries as a reunion host? Should Angie Stone’s personal life w boyfriend/manager be off limits? Thoughts other cast members?
See her response in our conversation below.
thejasmineBRAND: We gotta ask you about the R&B Divas Atlanta Reunion, what did you think about it?
You know what? My thoughts were that I love KeKe Wyatt, I think she’s absolutely incredible for speaking up and being very, very honest and real. I was shocked at Monifah. I was pleasantly surprised with Selena, because she did have a borderline nice thing to say about me, now didn’t she? ‘Don’t miss her on the show but miss her in real life’ and I felt bad for Angie Stone, I don’t think anybody should have to go through that. I felt very bad for her.
theJasmineBRAND.com: Speaking of Angie Stone, she got offended at the way Wendy Williams was asking about her significant other/Manager. Do you think Wendy Williams went below the belt with that?
