Sherri Shepherd Talks ‘The View’ & Her Messy Divorce [VIDEO]
Sherri Shepherd: A lot. When I left The View I had to tell his attorney I’m not working at The View no more but then they found out I was doing Top Five.
The Breakfast Club: What do you think of The View now?
Sherri Shepherd: I think The View is growing, they have to find who they are. I think they have to go on a company trip and do some trust building exercise. It took me three years to figure out what I bought to the show.
The Breakfast Club: Did you leave The View on your own terms?
Sherri Shepherd: When they were starting the negotiating with me, I’m a very spiritual person and I really feel like od God was saying it’s time to go. It’s been seven years, you’ve gotten all you can get. When I said to everybody I’m not going to come back they went crazy, they were like this is The View. It’s the number one talk show, you have opportunities and I said I want to do my own talk show and if I stay I’m going to look at everyone like ‘what if.’ They started putting more money and I said no—Then started going through the divorce and I have a son with special needs, I need some stability here so maybe I should stay—They were like ‘we want to go in a different direction.’ But it didn’t bother me because it was like God said to me, ‘I never changed what I told you to do. I said leave it was time to go so obviously I have to push you out.’ That’s when my faith kicked in and was like there’s something beyond this.
