Raven-Symoné Defends Host Who Made Ape Joke about Michelle Obama: Some people look like animals. [VIDEO]

Raven-Symone (real name Raven-Symoné Christina Pearman) has found herself in the middle of another racially charged conversation.

The 29-year-old actress, who is currently co-hosting at The View, is being criticized for defending controversial comments made about First Lady Michelle Obama.

As a backstory, TV host Rodner Figueroa was fired after stating that Michelle Obama looked like she could have been a cast member on “Planet of the Apes.”

The story was discussed The View’s ‘Hot Topics’ segment, with Rosie Perez stating that she absolutely felt that Figueroa’s ‘ape’ comment was racist. Meanwhile, Raven had a different point of view,

But was he saying it ‘racist-like?’

She added:

Michelle don’t fire me for this. But some people look like animals. Is that rude? I look like a bird… so can I be mad at somebody that calls me ‘Toucan Sam?”
