And other TV news, there are more interesting soundbites, compliments of 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) about ‘Empire’. As you know, there’s been ongoing dialogue by the rapper/actor/mogul about how the Fox series has stolen inspiration from his Starz series ‘Power’.
In a recent interview with Big Boy, 50 explains that he had NO SHAME when he bought a :30 sec commercial spot to play during the ‘Empire’ finale this past Wednesday. Hey says:
That’s right. They stole my marketing and built that lil thing over there. I bought it as SMS audio and turned it in as ‘Power’.
When asked if he’d ever make a cameo appearance on the Lee Danies created show, 50 replies:
You know what? Hell no….I wanted to create a show like the way I loved SuperFly. There were points that the music would say things that the character didn’t have to say.
50 also maintains that one of the better aspects of Power is the music.
While Empire is trying to sell new music and tryna create artists — I’m trying to put the best possible music in the show. Like, there’s a place for bad music and it’s television.
