(EXCLUSIVE) Jameis Winston Rape Accuser Criticizes Football Star for Attempting to Move Lawsuit to Court Near FSU
Despite the allegations of rape, Winston went on to be the #1 draft pick this year for the NFL being scooped up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signing a 4-year, $25 million dollar contract.
The woman filed the lawsuit demanding damages for the assault and seeks in excess of $15,000 for what he did to her, with her saying due to the incident she has lost the enjoyment of life along with suffering severe anxiety and depression.
Winston fired back at Kinsman’s lawsuit by countersuing her earlier this month. He claimed in his court documents that the sexual encounter was consensual and accused Kinsman of lying numerous times about him raping her to tarnish his public image. He demanded $7 million in damages from the woman. Winston also filed docs demanding the case be transferred to the district where the alleged incident took place, the one closest to FSU in Tallahassee.
Then on May 26th, Kinsman blasted Winston stating she “did not choose to be raped in Tallahassee,” but she explains why she didn’t file the lawsuit in that district.
Kinsman says she filed the lawsuit in the Orlando, FL district for several reasons. She says if the case was filed in the district near the University, Winston would clearly have community bias on his side. She explains that one in three people in the city work or attend FSU. The community has a strong allegiance to FSU football and its Heisman trophy-winning quarterback.
She says she also fears for her safety near the school. Following the media reports of her reporting Winston for allegedly raping her she was a victim of threats and became a target of many, so much so, she was forced to flee the school.
Kinsman explains that Winston should not be allowed to have the case moved to a court where he will clearly have a jury that will reward him by being biased and ruling in his favor in the sexual assault case.
She also says that she is a undergraduate student living with her family, not employed and has a limited savings. Kinsman says if the case was moved to the court near FSU, she would be financially ruined having to pay for hotels, travel and other costs. She points out Winston just signed the $25 million dollar contract with Tampa Bay with a $16 million signing bonus, which clearly shows he has the resources to travel to this court
Kinsman is demanding Winston not be allowed to transfer the case to the court where he will most likely be favored by the jury due to him being the football superstar in the community.
