August Alsina Talks Losing His Eyesight, Prepping For New Music & The Infamous V*gina Biting Rumor [AUDIO]

Rumors that he bit a woman’s vagina:

You know what’s crazy? You try to leave things in your past they follow you everywhere you go and the thing is that people believe whatever they want to believe. I never said I did or didn’t do that. I did not deny it or confirm it. People just take what they want to take and run with it. If you like it, I love it.

If he’s surprised that people are just discovering his music:

No, it does not surprise me. It is actually more people getting on to it now than before. I just think that is just the way it goes. I respect it. I do not care if you get on it twenty years from now as long as you on to it and you are hearing my message.  That is what is most important to me. It is not even that I do not want you on my album because I want people to know who I am. You do not even have to know who August Alsina is but you heard this August Alsina song and you heard what August Alsina said and you remember those emotions that August Alsina made you feel though that song and that is what is more important to me. It is not really shocking to me. I respect it.

On why he has not released any new music:

My hard drive got stolen. They stole it out of my engineer’s car. It was in his book sack and it was stolen. When I was coming to do the interviews with you all in New York, I had to reschedule everything so I can make sure that I can go back, I went back yesterday and the day before to kind of get everything in order. I did about twelve songs over that last night through the night to come here and do this show I am still up from yesterday. I feel I was able to go back and make a lot of things better from the smallest to the biggest I was kind of able to fix some vocals or whatever. It is all good. The new music is coming. People waiting on new music, they are so anxious for it.

It is like damn it is only been a year since I dropped my album. I don’t think people really take time to let that register. It is only been a year and they are on me like, ‘Bro when you going to put some new music out?’  I saw somebody say, ‘look how fast August Alsina fell off,’ is that what you call fall off? And I do not believe in just over saturating, kind of giving just too much music. I can do ‘I Love This Shit’ in my sleep and people ask for that and I am like well if that is what you are on go listen to the old shit. Because if you expect me to still be that same person on my new album something is clearly wrong because I am living and anything that is not growing it is dead,  so you dead . You stay dead over there by yourself and I am just going to keep on doing what I do.

Why his hometown event was shut down:

Yeah man it really bothered me. It is just like you from New York and you wanted to go back to New York to do something positive for the city. And I do not know if people know it or not but the stuff that is going on in New Orleans is completely tragic… like tragic. I cannot believe it — you know they just found a 15-year-old girl her body parts where cut up and scattered all across the city and the interstate? And when I hear that that type of stuff, me being the person that I am who knows what it feels like to lose someone close to me.

I wanted to do something to kind of let people escape the reality that they are living in right now. So just for these few hours I am going to be here, come rock with the boy, I had a whole bunch of food and extra  for people to come with their kids and it was just a safe environment and basically I jumped through so many hoops and loops  to get everything done  that they asked me to get done. At the end of it all they just kind of shut the door in my face, I guess thinking that what I would bring to the city would be more of a hazard or destruction other than something positive because of my celebrity [status].

It was hurtful for so many reasons but because so many people be saying, ‘aww man so many people get on and they do not do anything for hometown’ and it is like I am trying but you really do make it impossible and you make it impossible not because of my actions but because of someone else’s action that you claim they did, but I do not know nothing about. Discrimination, racism and stereotypes are all still alive and it is hard to be a black man in this world. I was listing to this Pac [Tupac] song the other day. I did not really understand what he was saying back when I heard it a long time ago but being a black man in this white man’s world Is not so easy.

 If he’s going blind:

Basically my eyesight was just diminishing. People always find a way to I guess confuse some things. It really is levels to this blind thing.  I guess when some people seen it and from the way that the picture looks I can understand why. In my recovering days, I never felt anything like that. It really scared me and put me in check. It made me realize that I need to be thankful for my vision. I think a lot of times we wake up and it is just so natural. We wake up we get out of bed we walk, we see and I think that we take that for granted and we do not really realize how important it is until it is gone.

How he discovered his eyesight was deteriorating:

Something had always been wrong for a while but I just stopped one day because I just could not see when I was driving. So I stopped at this eyeglass place or whatever and he told me that I have this disease…Basically if I would have waited any longer to get the procedure done I probably would be walking around with a cane. They told me thank god that you did get in here and get it checked out early. If I was still August before in the hood  who did not have the means to get my vision fixed or be in the doctor that would be it because everybody do not have that type of money man.
