The Forth Worth Star-Telegram spoke with Clyde Fuller, Taylor’s great-uncle, stating, Taylor was “a good kid” and that he did not believe the police account that Mr. Taylor had been committing a crime.
“I don’t see him stealing no car or nothing like that,” Mr. Fuller said. “They say he’s burglarizing the place by running up in there? Nuh-uh. Something doesn’t sound right.”
In an interview with The New York Times, Chief Will Johnson of the Arlington Police Department pledged “a transparent, thorough and fair investigation,” but warned that it might be “lengthy and at times frustratingly slow.”
According to KTVT, Adrian Taylor, Christian’s father said while it appears his son did wrong, he shouldn’t have had to die. “What he’d done, ain’t no way right, but to shoot an unarmed man? You’re a police office, you’re trained to take down men with your hands. You have your Tasers; you have your clubs, whatever there is. Unarmed, a 19-year-old — and you shoot to kill?”
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner says Taylor suffered gunshot wounds to his neck, chest and abdomen.
