Kevin Gates Wife Trashes Court For Sentencing Husband

Kevin Gates will be spending some time behind bars. On Wednesday, the rapper was found guilty of battery after a video went viral of him kicking a female fan -named Kristy Irelan– during a concert in Lakeland. Here’s a clip of Gates kicking the fan.

The judge sentenced Gates to 180 days in the Polk County Jail, with credit for any time served, and fines and court costs.

In a previous hearing, Gates attempted to have the charges dropped by using the Stand Your Ground defense. While he admitted to kicking the fan, he said that it was a result of her reaching out and grabbing his pants several times during the show. He testified,

I kicked them, I wanted them off me.

Miranda Dixon, the female fan’s mom, says that her daughter admitted herself to the hospital and had to undergo a CT scan after she was kicked.

She told me that she was excited to see him and next thing she knows she was kicked in the chest and she was passed out.

The fan admitted to tugging on his pants during the concert saying,

I was trying to get his attention for my friend.

Gates has yet to comment. However, his wife, Dreka has responded. She posted a video of the incident on social media writing:

You mean to tell me that @iamkevingates kicked the girl in the red jumpsuit and knocked the breathe out her? Because that’s what she’s been claiming and testified today in court. If anything her friend choked the f*ck out of her. She claims she fainted, but yet she and her friend stayed at the club at the front of the stage even after this incident. She also acquired a civil attorney early on…what does that tell you? She also touched him FIRST (more than once) without his consent but yet he was the one sentenced to jail today for the same crime. She and her friend also had very conflicting stories and were tripped up in many lies today in the courtroom. It was comical and sad at the same time to see how desperate people are for fame and money. Not to mention the prosecutors wanted to give him 60 days with anger management and community service but yet the judge decided to give him 180 days?!? Are you f*cking kidding me.
