J.Hud Defends Long Engagement
How long is the perfect engagement? Traditionally, an engagement usually lasts a year before tying the knot. However, Jennifer Hudson (aka J.Hud) isn’t a traditional woman. The 35-year-old singer and actress has been engaged to WWE wrestler David Otunga since 2008.

The pair also have a seven-year-old son David Daniel Otunga Jr, together. However, J.Hud doesn’t feel the least bit of pressure to say ‘I do’ until she’s ready. She explains,
I feel like everything is about timing, and he ain’t going nowhere. He’s still there.
She does admit that sometimes her son does push them to make it official. But she notes that some times, couples are together for years unmarried, and then split soon after they walk down the aisle. She adds,
Everyone has married us off anyway and we’re still a family but there’s no difference. I’m a believer in you do well and better in what you want to do rather than what you have to do. If you have to be somewhere, you don’t want to do it no more.

I personally wouldn’t hesitate to marry the man I love. But it does seem in some instances and after a long term relationship/engagement, things seem to fall apart after marriage for some.
If you are a believer of the word of God, And do things according to his word. Then you don’t have to be ? fearful. When you do things your way, they will never work out. But obey His word and things will definitely work out. Father not my will, but your will be done. God instituted marriage for a reason not relationships. It is better to marry , than to burn. Praise GOD!!! The truth is what frees us?
I personally feel 8 years is too long. I think a year is fair. However, I do understand where she is coming from. Some couples will be just fine for years on in, but once married, wont last a year. Its unfortunate but I understand.
