Dick Gregory Laid to Rest
Over the weekend, Dick Gregory was laid to rest. The legendary civil rights activist’s funeral service was held Saturday at City of Praise Family Ministries in Landover, Maryland.
Gregory, who broke racial barriers in the 1960s, was known for bringing national attention to integration and social equality for blacks. He died in Washington, D.C., last month at the age of 84.
Celebrities in attendance included Stevie Wonder, who sang; representative Maxine Waters; Louis Farrakhan, who delivered the eulogy; rapper and political activist Killer Mike; Nick Cannon; singer India Arie; Scandal actor Joe Morton; Bill Cosby and his wife Camille; former NBA player John Salley and others.
Afterward, Gregory was celebrated on the historic U Street, in D.C.
As previously reported, He died in Washington, D.C., last month at the age of 84.
