Mo’Nique’s Husband Bursts Into Tears, Defends Comedian Calling Him “Daddy”
Mo’Nique’s husband, Sidney Hicks, had an emotional moment recently on the couple’s podcast, Mo’Nique & Sidney’s Open Relationship. Sidney, who also manages the comedian, has been alongside his wife as she recently launched her #BoycottNetflix campaign.
During their recent podcast, Sidney opened up about why he supports his wife so much. In between tears, he explained that he supports her because his grandmother (who raised him) didn’t have the support from her husband and she was unable to pursue her dreams.
I was raised by a grandmother whose husband did not stand by her.
He also addresses those who disagree with how Mo’Nique refers to Sidney as “daddy.”
Somebody said, That’s creepy that she calls him daddy and mama. Was it creepy when you saw the old white folks call each other ma and pa? No, it’s the same term of endearment.

As previously reported, Mo’Nique continues to make headlines for calling out Netflix for lowballing her and offering her significantly less than comedians like Amy Schumer, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle.
Jada Pinkett-Smith and Wanda Sykes recently expressed her support for Mo’Nique.
