Jennifer Hudson To Portray Aretha Franklin In Biopic

Jennifer Hudson is returning to the big screen. The singer and Oscar Award winning actress will reportedly play Aretha Franklin in the Queen of Soul’s biopic.

For the past few years, there’s been speculation as to who Franklin would like to have portray her.

Halle Berry

Back in 2011, Franklin stated that she wanted Halle Berry to play her. See a vintage clip of Wendy Williams discussing why Halle said that she couldn’t play the role.

Reportedly, MGM has acquired the project and will finance it. Scott Bernstein (Straight Outta Compton) will produce. No additional details have been released.

    I think Jennifer will be wayyyyyy better than Halle. I don’t even see why Aretha would consider Halle, aside from liking her work.
