Mary J. Blige Supports Ryan Seacrest + Taraji P. Henson Denies Shading Him

Taraji P. Henson is denying reports that she shaded Ryan Seacrest last night, during her red carpet interview with him at the Academy Awards. During the interview she told Seacrest,

The universe has a way of taking care of taking care of good people. You know what I mean?

Social media quickly assumed she was throwing shade at Seacrest, especially since after she told ABC’s Wendi Mclendon-Covey,

I’m great now that I’m in your company.

Henson says that her remarks to Seacrest were “misconstrued.”

I did it to keep his chin up. It’s an awkward position to be in. He’s been cleared but anyone can say anything.

When asked whether she was supporting the E! host, Henson replied

absolutely.

Later, Seacrest addressed the situation on Twitter, writing that he had “nothing but love for his friend”

Henson’s close friend, Mary J. Blige, also says she supports Seacrest. The Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominee said that he is

fighting for his life right now.

She also admitted that she loves Seacrest and that she doesn’t know the whole truth of what happened. As previously reported, The E! host has been accused of sexual misconduct by his former personal stylist. He’s denied the allegations.
