EXCLUSIVE: Frank Ocean Dad – $14.5 Million Lawsuit Against Son Officially Over
EXCLUSIVE: Frank Ocean Dad – Lawsuit Against Son Officially Over
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports, Frank Ocean’s legal battle with his father is officially over! The appeal court dismissed his dad Calvin Cooksey’s appeal due to him not filing documents by the deadline. Ultimately, this means that singer’s years-long battle with his father is done.
Here’s the backstory: Ocean’s father, Calvin Cooksey, sued the singer for $14.5 million, accusing him of defaming him online. Cooksey said he suffered damages and was not able to sell his movie script as a result of the post. The legal battle was over a Tumblr post where Ocean recounted an alleged incident when he was a kid. The singer made the post in response to the Orlando Nightclub massacre by recounting a time when his dad used a slur towards a transgender waitress. In the post, Ocean wrote,
I was 6 years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a f****t as he dragged me out of a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty.
Frank’s dad claimed his son defamed him and ruined his reputation, with people now believing he is a bigot, a claim he denies. He says the story recounted was fabricated.
