‘Power’ Actress Naturi Naughton Revisits Her 3LW Roots, Belts Out Gospel Song
“Power” actress Naturi Naughton is revisiting her roots! She hit her friend, gospel singer Jon McReynolds’ Brooklyn stop of his “Make Room Tour” and was inspired to belt out a song of her own. Naturi captivated the room by belting out popular gospel song, “I Won’t Complain.” Her Instagram caption of the moment eludes to her impromptu performance being a full circle moment. She said:
“Impromptu. Thankful. Honored. Testimony. God. I appreciate you @jonmcreynolds #IWontComplain #MakeRoom #PowerOfTheLifeRoom shout out to @kingmarcusaaron 4 capturing the 2nd half”
Naturi raved over Jon McReynolds’ performance, and thanked him for the invite. She wrote,
“OH MY GOD FINALLY saw my friend @jonmcreynolds on stage!Been a fan for years! Sooo proud of you JM! What a blessing GO SEE THIS TOUR YALL! #makeroomtour #jonathanmcreynolds #proudfriendmoment #GodWasIntheRoom Oh and thank you for pulling me up on that stage tonight so I could sing my A & B selection!”
Before flexing her acting chops as Lil Kim in the movie, “Notorious,” and Tasha in the hit TV show, “Power” – let us not forget Naturi first wowed us as singer in the girl group, 3LW. The group comprised of Naturi, and actresses/singers Adrienne Bailon and Kiely Williams. The trio topped the charts with their singles, “No More (Baby Ima Do Right),“ “Playaz Gon Play,” and “I Do,” and toured with the likes of Destiny’s Child and Nelly. Eventually, tensions with management led to a nasty break-up, with Naturi being replaced with another member, and the group eventually collapsing. Adrienne and Kiely transitioned to Disney-famed girl group, The Cheetah Girls.
Last year, Adrienne gave Naturi Naughton a public apology for the demise of 3LW on her talk show, “The Real.” Check it out below:
