Mona Scott-Young Wants Cardi B & Nicki Minaj To Co-Exist
Female celebrities in media and entertainment have been weighing in left and right about the fight between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj during New York Fashion Week last Friday.
Some of those women include, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Rowland, and most recently, Vivica A. Fox. As fans draw their own theories about why the shouting match and shoe throwing took place, Mona Scott-Young has given her outlook on the fight that took place at the Harper’s Bazaar Icon party. The Love & Hip Hop executive producer has worked with both Cardi and Nicki. She says,
I think when you look at the success that both Cardi and Nicki have achieved, they are what a lot of these artists [on the show] aspire to. When you get to that point, there’s a different kind of struggle that comes with having reached that level of success. And it’s … disheartening that we can’t have all of these badass, super-dynamic females coexisting.

Before Cardi was hitting the stage at Coachella and breaking records, she was a reality star VH1’s hit show Love & Hip-Hop. Cardi made her mark in the entertainment industry with her fiery passion and hilarious accent. When asked if the situation would have turned out differently while on set of an episode, Scott replied,
Well, they’d both have to be on our cast, and this would have been organic. If they had all of the history they said they have, and all of the feelings that led to that moment, then it might have played out differently. But then you hope also that having to come together and having to have discussions and communication, maybe that would have led to a different measure of understanding, and that moment could have been avoided. Who knows?
Minaj ranted about the incident on her radio show on Monday. After the experience, she stated she was “mortified” and “humiliated,” and labeled Cardi B a “pig.” The “Barbie Dreams” rapper also went as far and said Cardi’s success is documented off of sympathy and payola. Cardi has yet to respond to Minaj directly, but the “Bodak Yellow” rapper posted a vintage performance video and statistics to her Instagram. Cardi is rumored to release new music next week.
