Dave Chappelle Says R. Kelly Confronted Him Over “Piss On You” Parody
Comedian Dave Chappelle‘s “Piss On You” parody of singer R. Kelly‘s sextape has gone down in history. The skit aired in 2003 on his noted Comedy Central show, “Chappelle’s Show.” It may have gotten plenty of laughs, but, of course, R. Kelly wasn’t one of those laughs. Due to the overwhelming response to the Lifetime documentary, “Surviving R. Kelly,” Dave mentioned that he and his entourage approached him to intimidate him. Dave said:
“His dude bust in my room. I don’t know if it was [Kelly’s] goons [but] they sure did like him.”
He continued:
“He [R. Kelly] said, ‘How are you gonna do the video of me peeing on [girls] like that?’…and I said, ‘How you gonna do the video?'”
Oop! Comedian Neal Brennan, co-creator of “Chappelle’s Show,” recently sat down with the hosts of Power 105.1’s “Breakfast Club” and confirmed Dave Chappelle’s story of being confronted by the singer. Neal said:
“R. Kelly wanted to fight Dave. He literally stepped — his goons stepped to Dave in Chicago — and Dave’s goons intervened, and the goons negotiated.”
He continued:
“I don’t think people understand what comedy is supposed to do. We will observe things, we will make fun of things. Did people want us to round up a posse and go arrest R. Kelly? Like, what were we supposed to do?”
People were mad last week that we did an R. Kelly sketches 15 years ago. Here's me explaining comedy to them. pic.twitter.com/FQoxIALqkr
