Brandi Maxiell Reflects On Her Battle w/ Cancer – GO GET CHECKED
Former Basketball Wives star, Brandi Maxiell recently reflected on her battle with ovarian cancer on World Cancer Day to uplift survivors and those who are currently battling the disease.
The wife of former Detroit Pistons player Jason Maxiell, Brandi says during her battle in 2007, the time period was, “The most difficult challenging time of my life.” She shared her story on social media with a side-by-side photo during her treatment. She captions the photo,
“It’s #WORLDCANCERDAY and I’m so blessed to beat this terrible disease and I didn’t let it defeat me!!! 2007-2008 was THE most difficult challenging time of my life. But I didn’t give up, I fought hard, stayed strong, stayed faithful & prayed up… and I SURVIVED. Now I am able to share my story to uplift others. Staying strong was the most challenging of it all as well as staying positive but if it wasn’t for my mother, I wouldn’t be able to share my story now.”
In an 2018 interview, Maxiell explained about her battle:
“I was really, really young when I was diagnosed with this disease, but still, it helped me grow and it helped me to appreciate life, things better.”
In 2017, Maxiell’s grandmother passed away from the same cancer type battled a decade ago. On World Cancer Day, Maxiell urges everyone to listen to your body and if there is something that doesn’t feel right, “GO GET CHECKED.”
“You don’t have until next week or when you are not busy. Don’t put your life on the line behind neglecting your body. Don’t skip out on wellness annual exams or follow ups. To those that are battling this TERRIBLE disease keeping kicking cancer ass, keep your head up and fight it with everything you have.”
