August Alsina’s New Song Has People Speculating It’s About His Alleged Romantic Relationship W/ Jada Pinkett Smith [VIDEO]
Last summer singer August Alsina opened up about his crippling Percocet addiction and how he was able to overcome his dependency on it through the help of none other than actress Jada Pinkett Smith. Due to her help, the two cultivated a solid friendship (which some speculated may have been romantic)—but it may be over now, as lyrics to his new song have many thinking it’s about their rumored fall out.
August Alsina fans were elated when the singer dropped the visuals for his new song “Nunya,” however, it’s those same visuals that have them thinking that the friendship between Alsina and Jada Pinkett Smith is no longer.
The emoji filled video features text messages that the mimic the words to the song, with additional memes included to convey the message. Although one passage of the video is what has fans speculating that things aren’t what they used to be between Alsina and Pinkett Smith.
The lyrics in question say:
“The time I invested, you can’t give it back. You can’t get mad at the way I react. You had me feeling it was just as an act. YOU’RE JUST AN ACTRESS!! Putting on a show.”
After the line about being an “actress,” there is a meme inserted of Jada Pinkett Smith from her 1994 film A Low Down Dirty Shame. The text on the meme is one of her lines in the film that says,
“Oh, so now you gon’ front?”
Upon further discovery, it also appears that neither of them follow each other on social media anymore. So, the question is, what’s going on? Alsina and Pinkett Smith appeared to be very tight over the last several months, in fact he seemed to have a tight relationship with the entire Smith family. They actually met through her son Jaden at one of his concerts—and a relationship blossomed from there.
He previously said this about Pinkett Smith helping him conquer his addiction while on her show Red Table Talk:
“I was on tour or something and you called me and you literally broke down about it. That was the thing. To feel your emotion and to hear you bawling. That was a reality check for me. I was like, ‘Wow, if someone else can love you that much that it hurts them, why doesn’t it bother you that you are actually hurting yourself?’ That moment really changed the trajectory of my life.”
