‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Female Crew Member Sues For Sexual Discrimination, Says She Was Called A ‘B****’ & C**t On Set
ABC is looking at a sexual discrimination lawsuit as a female rigging grip. Troi Wilson, said she experienced harassment on the set of its hit show, How To Get Away With Murder. ABC along with Touchstone Television and the show’s production manager are named in the lawsuit. Wilson sued for sex discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination and defamation.
She said it wasn’t rare for her to be called names like “b****” and “c***” from the construction crew on set. She was also asked,
“Who did you blow to get this job?”
The production manager, Bryan Thomas, was accused of “nitpicking” her work more than he did her male counterparts, and often
“spoke to her in a belittling and belligerent manner.”
The construction coordinator, James Barron, was also named as one who insulted her when she attempted to talk about safety problems. She says that things seemed to get worse during season three, when Barron, and possibly Thomas, allegedly yelled at her. She was told a few months later that she wouldn’t be coming back for season four, and claimed the person she was replaced with was a
“less qualified male.”
She said she’s been informed that someone has blacklisted her name, saying she can’t do the job. She said this has caused her to not get jobs at CBS, Fox, Disney and ABC. Her attorney, Daniel Barth, said in the lawsuit,
“Plaintiff hoped that working on Shonda Rhimes production would be different. It was not. Her workplace was a cesspool of misogyny, discrimination and hate.”

Shonda Rhimes
Rhimes herself isn’t named in the lawsuit. Still, Wilson said she was not only harassed when working on the show, but was also terminated as a form of retaliation and then blacklisted, causing her to be unable to find work elsewhere.
Wilson worked with the show in 2014 and said she was illegally fired after season three. ABC and Rhimes have yet to make a statement.
