Lifetime To Air Follow-Up To “Surviving R. Kelly,” Hosted by Soledad O’Brien
It has been almost four months since Lifetime’s groundbreaking three-part special, “Surviving R. Kelly,” premiered – chronicling devastating claims from women who were, reportedly, sexually assaulted by singer, R. Kelly. According to reports, over 26 million people tuned into the docuseries sparking a worldwide conversation on sexual violence and abuse, the #MuteRKelly movement, and, ultimately, his indictment and arrest.
Lifetime is back with a two-hour follow-up special to “Surviving R. Kelly,” hosted by renowned journalist, Soledad O’Brien. “Surviving R. Kelly: The Impact” will feature interviews with survivors of his alleged sex-cult, as well as members of non-profit organizations founded to teach abuse awareness.
Psychologists and legal experts will also analyze R. Kelly’s infamous interview with Gayle King, and the dramatic crumbling of his public persona.
The behavior of Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary – his remaining live-in girlfriends – will also be discussed.
Meanwhile, R. Kelly’s attorney, Steve Greenberg, retweeted footage eluding that the #MuteRKelly movement is a ploy to assassinate the singer’s character. The video shows an interview with a former female staff-member of R. Kelly’s, inferring that she was kept out of “Surviving R. Kelly” because she refused to slander the singer.
