Marlon Wayans Defends Daughter After Wishing Her Happy LGBTQ Pride Month: I Love Her For Her!

Pride Month has officially started and a host of celebrities are posting messages of support for the LGBTQ community—including actor/comedian Marlon Wayans. Wayans recently took to Instagram to show his support for his daughter, who is member of the LGBTQ community, but sadly comments on the post took a left turn with many criticizing him for his parenting skills.

Marlon Wayans is well-known for always bringing the funny, but he recently got serious to show love and support to his daughter to commemorate Pride Month. Unfortunately, many of the comments on his IG post reeked of homophobia, with some commenters vowing to unfollow Wayans for merely supporting his daughter unconditionally.

The caption of the photo of his daughter was heartfelt:

“Happy pride  to my pride and joy. I wouldn’t change one effing thing about you. Love you to the moon around the sun through the galaxies and back again.”

However, that didn’t stop several of those in the comment section from bashing Wayans and questioning him as a father. To one commenter in particular, Wayans responded with this:

“She’s 19. She’s who she is until or until she don’t choose different. Love her for her not what I want her to be.”
