David Ortiz — Reports Say Drug Lord Who Thought Ortiz Was Having An Affair With His Wife Hired Cops To Shoot MLB Star, Rep Says ‘There Is No Doubt It Was An Act Of Hired Killers’
While David Ortiz is recovering from a nearly fatal gunshot wound, more details are coming out about what could have happened when Ortiz was shot in a Dominican Republic bar Sunday night. Ortiz was injured after a motorcycle pulled up and opened fire.
According to The Daily Mail Monday, sources claim that a drug lord hired two policemen to shoot Ortiz. The drug dealer allegedly thought Ortiz was having an affair with his wife. Ortiz, AKA Big Papi, has also been married to Tiffany Ortiz since 2002. They have three children together.
Leo Lopez, a representative for Ortiz, shut down the speculation, but said they’re convinced someone was hired to injure the retired Boston Red Sox star.
“There is no doubt that it was an act of hired killers. If we had known that there was a dangerous situation, he would not have been there at that moment.”
Meanwhile, a man named Eddy Feliz Garcia was taken into custody. He was the one driving the motorcycle but didn’t pull the trigger. Still, Ortiz’s fans chased Garcia and beat him to the point he had to go to the hospital. Feliz reportedly told the angry crowd he didn’t know anything about the incident. A second man was also arrested but his identity hasn’t been released to the public yet.
Lieutenant Pimentel of the National Police in Santo Domingo said,
“So far the case is under investigation. Social media networks are speculating many things. We can not give you more details.”
One insider also told the New York Post,
“They’re definitely looking at a police officer in the shooting.
One worker also said,
“Some wanted to kill him, but several people prevented that, so he will talk about why he did that.”
Meanwhile, two women were spotted fighting in the hospital in a video that’s making its rounds. Swipe to see.
Fortunately, Ortiz is expected to make a full recovery. But he did experience liver damage while in surgery for six hours. One of his doctors said he’s oka to travel.
“The level of stability that Big Papi is showing at this moment makes it possible for him to travel immediately.”
He’s scheduled to return to Boston Monday on a Red Sox plane.
Back in 2015, Ortiz complained about the lack of security in the Dominican Republic.
“I like to go to my country, and I know that people love you and take care of you. But [the street hustlers] are doing their thing, and they are not in their right mind, no matter who is who, and I do not want to walk with an AK-47 over to a car there, I do not want to go full of guns there because I’m not a gunslinger, and I’m not a problem of any kind. We cannot live in that anxiety that every time you go out of your house, a [thug] comes and takes away what you have on you,’’ the slugger said. “Many people are losing their lives. Our country is a diamond that we have to take care of and defend fully and hope that things improve.’’
