Beyonce Accused Of Copying South African Artist For ‘Spirit + Bigger’ Video
While Beyonce is getting lots of love and applause for her Spirit + Bigger video from The Lion King soundtrack, she’s also getting accused of knocking a South-African artist. Some have pointed out the similarities between Beyonce’s video and that of Petite Noir.
Noir’s was released in 2018 and has more than 1.9 million views on YouTube. Beyonce’s hit YouTube Friday and has more than 4 million views.
For starters, The Lion King soundtrack is called The Gift while Noir’s video, directed by Rharha Nembhard is called La Maison Noir: The Gift and the Curse.
There are also visual similarities in the videos.
Fans had a few things to say about it on social media.

In a rare interview, Beyonce spoke about the inspirations for the songs.
“It was important that we weren’t just inspired by Africa but that we actually included and learned from the Mother Land. The concept of the video is to show how God is the painter and natural beauty and nature needs no art direction. It’s the beauty of color, the beauty of melanin, the beauty of tradition. “
