Bill Cosby’s Legal Team Attempting To Get His Sexual Assault Case Thrown Out In Appeal Hearing
Bill Cosby‘s legal team is hoping to get him granted a “get out of jail free”-card in an appeal against his sexual assault case, according to reports. The 82-year-old is serving a three-to-ten-year sentence for drugging and molesting Andrea Constand in the first celebrity #MeToo-era trial. In his deposition, he admitting to securing quaalude drugs to give to women before having sex with them in the 1970s.
However, the three-judge panel feels that Bill Cosby’s lawyers are a day late and a procedure short. The panel questioned why they didn’t file for a judge-approved immunity agreement when his accuser, Andrea Consand, first came forward in 2005. Superior Court Judge John T. Bender asked:
“This is not a low-budget operation…They had an unlimited budget. Could it be they knew this was something the trial court would never have allowed?”
In the appeal, his legal team questioned why five different accusers were allowed to testify in his trial last year. Prosecutors argued that these particular accusers showed a “signature pattern” in Bill Cosby’s sex crimes. One of his lawyers added that one of the accusers weren’t even sure if she’d actually been violated by Bill Cosby. Judge Bender didn’t let up on him, stating:
“The reality of it is, he gives them drugs and then he sexually assaults them. That’s the pattern, is it not?”
Assistant District Attorney Adrienne Jappe argued:
“The defendant should not be rewarded because she has no recollection because of the drugs he gave her.”
Yikes! Will Bill Cosby be left in prison to finish his sentence, or will his case be dismissed? Let us know what you think in the comments.
