Iconic Actress Diahann Carroll Dies At 84
We’ve lost another legend!
Singer and actress Diahann Carroll has passed away at 84. She’s survived by her daughter, Suzanne Kay Bamford, and grandchildren August and Sydney.
Hailing from the Bronx, Carroll is an Oscar-nominated actress and has also won a Tony Award throughout her career.
She first became famous as a model when she was 15, making appearances in magazines like Ebony and Jet. Interestingly enough, her father wasn’t a fan but had a change of heart after she informed him she earned $600 in a session. She continued getting booked and studied Psychology at NYU before her acting career took off.
She made history as the first Black woman to land her own television series on the small screen with NBC’s Julia in 1968. The show ran for three seasons.
She later went on to star in Dynasty and films like The Five Heartbeats and Eve’s Bayou.
Prayers for Diahann’s family, loved ones and fans!
