Whitney Houston – Robyn Crawford Recalls 1st Time They Were Intimate: It Felt Wonderful

Robyn Crawford, the best friend of late singer Whitney Houston, is opening up more than ever about their physical relationship.

Robyn Crawford, who’s releasing her book A Song For You: My Life With Whitney Houston this month, is making her media rounds and dishing on her past with Whitney Houston. 

During an appearance on TODAY, Crawford detailed their first physical moments together after meeting when they were summer camp counselors in East Orange, NJ.

“Our friendship was a deep friendship. In the early part of that friendship, it was physical… It was during that first summer that we met, was the first time our lips touched. And it wasn’t anything planned. It just happened. And it felt wonderful. And then, not long after that, we spent the night together. And that evening was the night that we touched, and that just brought us closer.”

She added she wasn’t “surprised” that their friendship turned physical.

“I was in that moment. It was ours. She just came into my life all of a sudden. I didn’t know how long it was gonna last, I was just enjoying the moment. And that’s what we did, we just enjoyed it.”

She also explained why they stopped being intimate before Houston got her big break.

“[Whitney] said ‘I don’t believe we should be physical anymore.’ The music business was a world that we were learning, and we didn’t want anything to interfere with where she was going… I just felt that I wouldn’t be losing much. I still loved her the same, and she loved me. And that was good enough.”

While they never confirmed it, rumors of a romantic relationship between Crawford and Houston swirled for decades. Crawford explained in the interview why she’s speaking out seven years after Houston’s passing.

“I never envisioned speaking publicly about my life. Then I ask myself the question, what would Whitney want? Would she understand that the time is now?”

She added,

“We were intimate on many levels. And all I can say is that it was very deep, and we were very connected.”

Crawford also opened up about her and Houston in her book and said that they were no longer physical after Houston landed her deal with Clive Davis and Arista. Still, they were very much a part of each other’s lives.
