Tamron Hall Shuts Down Report That She Lashed Out After Kelly Clarkson’s Daytime Talk Show Was Renewed Before Hers: I Have Never Once Complained About Kelly’s Renewal

It’s not really the battle of the daytime talk shows.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Tamron Hall flipped out on her team after hearing the news about Kelly Clarkson’s daytime talk series.

An ABC insider claimed Tamron Hall told her staff during a meeting,

“We would have gotten an early renewal too if you were all doing a better job!’

They added,

“She wasn’t mad per se that Kelly’s show got picked up for a second season, but she’s apparently frustrated with the direction of her show and afraid of it becoming a failure after walking away from her job at NBC and banking everything on this opportunity working. She’s been on edge since the show launched, but each week she’s become more and more difficult to work with.”

Tamron Hall has since fired back and said those reports are absolutely false and saluted Kelly Clarkson for her success. She wrote on Instagram Friday (Dec. 6),

“Welp it was bound to happen the ole difficult and angry is lame. ..So here is my statement. ‘It’s ironic that a few days after I said on my show that I’ve seen ‘men storm out of rooms, puffing and huffing, and no one says anything’ while ‘women [who] speak up [are viewed] as difficult’ that someone would leak a false story about me being difficult. As I said live on my show while defending Gabrielle Union, women are perceived as ‘difficult’ when they speak up. I have never once complained about Kelly’s renewal – I am so happy for my fellow Texan. I’m excited about my show and I can’t wait for season 2!!’

She later shared a clip from her show Tuesday, where she spoke on Gabrielle Union’s current dispute with NBC after she was fired from “America’s Got Talent” after one season. Gabrielle Union was said to be difficult and problematic after she reportedly spoke up about concerns she had about an alleged toxic work environment. Read about that here.

Hall said,

“‘Sources’ have described Gabrielle Union as, um, what is the word that they used? Difficult! How could I forget that one? I was being sarcastic because that’s the go-to word. It’s a trope when it comes to women. We are difficult. Black women are angry and difficult. I have in this business watched men storm out of rooms, puffing and huffing and no one says anything. A woman speaks up, you’re difficult.”

She added the caption,

“Flashback Friday #fbf to @tamronhallshow Tuesday. The “difficult” conversation and women in case you missed it. As we say on the show “let’s talk about it”. See yall Monday.”

Gabrielle Union also backed Hall on Twitter.

Interestingly enough, before their shows aired, Hall made it clear she didn’t feel any ill will toward Kelly Clarkson. Both ladies debuted their daytime talk shows on Sept. 9. Hall said ahead of their premieres,

“There’s not a head to head. Anyone who would write, ‘oh there’s a battle’ is simply looking for a headline. Kelly Clarkson will have a phenomenal show and I’m not just saying that, I’m saying that because I’m a fan of hers on American Idol, and she’s a fun-loving person. Her show is going to be different from mine, but we’re still talking.”
