Sofia Vergara In Talks To Replace Gabrielle Union On ‘America’s Got Talent’ Amid Firing Drama
Gabrielle Union — Sofia Vergara Reportedly In Talks To Replace Her On ‘America’s Got Talent’ Amid Firing Drama
Sofia Vergara could be sitting in Gabrielle Union’s old judging chair on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”
Gabrielle Union was reportedly fired from the show earlier this month in one of the most talked-about TV shakeups.
But now, it looks like “AGT” is moving right along.
According to reports, “Modern Family” actress had a meeting with “AGT” leaders Wednesday (Dec. 18). She was said to have been 20 minutes late, but her tardiness reportedly didn’t put her potential new gig in jeopardy.
She reportedly sat down with major decisionmakers like NBC’s Entertainment president Paul Telegdy, as well as employees from Fremantle, the production company for the talent show.
Sofia Vergara was also reportedly in talks of signing on to other NBC projects, including a Spanish one as the network owns Spanish TV station Telemundo.
She’ll certainly have more time on her hands as the final season of “Modern Family” wraps.
The conversations come amid reports that Gabrielle Union was fired because she challenged the alleged toxic environment behind the scenes. She allegedly took issue with fellow judge and executive producer Simon Cowell smoking indoors and had a problem with former late-night talk show host, Jay Leno, allegedly telling an inappropriate racist joke during his stint as a guest judge. On top of that, she was reportedly told her hairstyles were “too black.”
She later received lots of support from her husband, retired NBA star Dwyane Wade, and other celebrities like “Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo.
