Mariah Carey On Alleged Feud With Whitney Houston: Once We Knew Each Other, We Had The Best Time Together
Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston have two of the biggest voices ever.
So when they paired up for “When You Believe”, which was featured on the Prince of Egypt soundtrack, it was an entire vibe.
Still, back in the 90s, there were rumors that there was a feud between them thanks to their notable voices. But Mariah Carey said when they finally met the late singer for the duet, there wasn’t any ill will between them.
She talked Billboard about their Academy Awards together,
“Working with Whitney was an experience I’ll never forget. It was a bonding experience. Before that when we did the video, we really put all the rumors and nonsense behind us that there was a feud.”
“There was nothing, we didn’t know each other. Once we knew each other, we had the best time together and I was honored to work with her, so when I look at this picture, I’m really proud that we had this moment together.”
Fortunately, the ladies were able to laugh off the speculation of a feud before Whitney Houston died in February 2012.
In the heat of reports that they didn’t get along, the two powerhouses sported the same dress while presenting the Best Male Video MTV Video Music Awards in 1998.
They also shut down feud rumors when they were all smiles during an appearance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”
Mariah Carey later mourned Whitney Houston’s death shortly after he tragically passed.
She said while on “Good Morning America”,
“I’m almost incapable to be talking about this still. I don’t think people could ever really understand our relationship. There was always this supposed rivalry in the beginning and then we did the duet and became friends … I loved her.”
