Wendy Williams Says Beyonce & Jay-Z Should Have Stood Up During National Anthem: If You Don’t Like Our Country Then…
Colin Kaepernick and his girlfriend Nessa Diab aren’t the only ones who have an issue with Beyonce and Jay-Z staying seated during the national anthem of the Super Bowl game Sunday (Feb. 2).

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, who hasn’t played for the NFL since he started kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality, and his girlfriend Nessa Diab previously reacted to Beyonce and Jay-Z’s decision that went viral. They mentioned Jay-Z’s previous comments that we’re “beyond kneeling” when it comes to protesting against police brutality int he NFL.

Wendy Williams also addressed it during the Super Bowl recap of the Hot Topics segment of her daytime talk show Monday (Feb. 3). But she had a completely different perspective and said the couple should have stood up out of respect for the country.
“Beyonce and Jay-Z are getting slammed for not standing up. They were with their daughter [Blue] Ivy… Everyone was standing, but this only a picture… But when they were performing, if you saw the actual standing up. ‘As the bombs burst in air’, you know you put a hand over your heart. I don’t know about you, and our country might be in a bad way, but there’s no place I’d rather live than America.”
Her comment was met with cheers and claps before she added,
“And some of the first songs I learned in my life, even as a little girl; ‘America the Beautiful’, ‘Oh Say Can You See’, and all that other stuff. My mom and dad… trips would be to come to see the statue of liberty and the empire state building, in Philadelphia the liberty bell, going to Washington and passing the White House… Jay, you might be an NFL owner and I get that. Respect. But you don’t own all the NFL…”
She then showed off her Ivy Park dress from Beyonce’s collection with Adidas and said,
“And Beyonce, I love my Ivy Park dress… I mean…”
She continued and said she refused to change the dress before the show, despite Beyonce and Jay-Z being a topic of conversation. She added,
“Jay-Z and Beyonce you understand all eyes are on you. You should’ve stood up. If you don’t like our country, then… Anywho let’s move on.”
