Dame Dash Sues Ex-Wife Rachel Roy, Claims She Withheld Thousands Of Dollars In Royalties From Her Clothing Line
It seems Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon “Dame” Dash loves a good court battle. His latest qualm is with his ex-wife, fashion designer Rachel Roy. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Dame Dash claims that Rachel Roy, along with companies and accounts associated with her, conspired to keep him financially locked out of her clothing company, Rachel Roy Brands.
Dame Dash is ultimately suing his ex for unpaid royalties, stating that the company was partially built on his funds. Due to the fact that Rachel’s clothing is sold in Bloomingdale’s and other high-end department stores, she is earning millions. Dame says he hasn’t received his cut since 2014. His suit reads:
“…[they] manipulated, diverted, misappropriated, transferred, concealed and embezzled funds.”
Dame Dash’s lawsuit alleges that his first unpaid royalty payment rings to the tune of $175,000. The second in 2015 is worth $200,000. Rachel Roy and company reportedly submitted fraudulent financial statements and undervalued his shares in Rachel Roy Brands. He claims he and his daughters’ mother had a verbal agreement that she would purchase his shares for $1 million, but abruptly backed out of the deal. Dame wants the company’s books to be exposed in hopes of revealing other allegedly unpaid dues.
Rachel Roy posted a cryptic message on her Instagram Story, which could be taken as a subliminal message about her ex-husband’s lawsuit:
“If you want to “understand” any problem “in America, you need to focus on “who” profits from that problem, not who suffers from the problem. Dr. Amos Wilson”
Rachel Roy filed for divorce from Dame Dash in 2009.
