Mara Akil Announces Album For Canceled Series ‘Love Is___’
“Love Is___” might have been canceled on OWN after its first season, but the series is living on two years later.
The co-creator of the series Mara Akil announced that there’s now an album that features the songs heard in the first season.
She wrote Friday (Feb. 28),
“LOVE IS__ An Album Release
I’m excited to announce that the LOVE IS__ original score is available NOW for digital download everywhere.

“I remain in awe of creation and collaboration. To think that a few years ago this show was just an idea that became a show that needed a beautiful cinematic score to help tell this story of love… and now there are actual vinyl and CD copies for us analog folks who want to be nostalgic and listen to this incredible score by @akirakosemura like we had to do in the 90s— visit the #linkinbio to purchase these limited copies.”
She also revealed the tracklist.

The series was canceled at the end of 2018. Marak Akil created it with her husband Salim Akil, and told the story of the earlier days of their romance. The second season was in pre-production before the show was canceled.

The cancelation came amid a lawsuit against Salim Akil, claiming that he physically, sexually and verbally assaulted a woman he was allegedly having an affair with. He has adamantly denied the claims.
“These allegations are deeply upsetting – but they are also totally untrue. We will defend Salim to the fullest against the false and offensive claims that a woman with whom he had a past relationship has included in multiple unsubstantiated lawsuits. Salim looks forward to clearing his name and to being able to focus on his work and his family.”
