Rihanna Donates Protective Gear For Healthcare Professionals In New York, State’s Governor Responds
Singer Rihanna is committed to the cause of protecting the hard-working first responders in New York from the deadly coronavirus. Rihanna’s foundation, the Clara Lionel Foundation, has already donated $5 million to several organizations in order to better equip hospitals and citizens against the global pandemic.

But since then, the state of New York’s number of diagnoses and deaths from the virus have skyrocketed. In fact, the United States leads both stats in the world and the country. According to The New York Times, the Empire State leads the country in half of the country’s known cases.
This past Monday, (3/23/20) Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York sent a plea to the public, citing limited testing and protective materials where the disease is running rampant. He tweeted:
“We need the federal government to use the Defense Production Act so that we can get the medical supplies we desperately need. We can’t just wait for companies to come forward with offers and hope they will. This is a national emergency.”

Rihanna has, since, stepped in to answer that call. Gov. Cuomo thanked the Bajan superstar for her additional help:
“I want to thank @rihanna and the Rihanna Foundation for donating Personal Protective Equipment to New York State. We’re so appreciative of your help and that of so many others who have stepped up.”

Rihanna to the rescue!
